NWP Apprentice Ecologist Awards: 2006

All of the national and international youth volunteers that conducted their own environmental cleanup projects this year as part of the Apprentice Ecologist Initiative™ can be found by visiting the Global Registry of Apprentice Ecologists. These youth volunteers, including those who are at-risk and disadvantaged, accomplished an amazing amount of work that will help to protect the integrity of ecosystems and the beauty of nature. They conducted their environmental cleanup efforts at beaches, lakes, rivers, mountains, parks, and neighborhoods in an effort to preserve the quality of our environment for the benefit of wildlife and for the health and enjoyment of future generations. We thank each and every volunteer that participated this year; they have made the world a better place!!! View past Apprentice Ecologist Award Winners (2005).

The Nicodemus Wilderness Project staff has voted for the top Apprentice Ecologist projects of 2006 (based on project organization, participation, and essay) conducted in the United States and internationally. Categories were established based on age (pre-teen, teen, and college-age) and the number of awards in each category was based on the total number of participants. The award for each author (project leader) of a selected project included a Nicodemus Wilderness Project 100% certified organic cotton tote bag, individual recognition on their web page, and group recognition with other award-winners on the front page of our web site. The following award-winning authors appear in alphabetical order (first name).
